The ADA Paratransit Service, mandated by the American's Disability Act (ADA), provides transportation to those whose disability prevents them from using the regular city public bus systems. The disability may be physical, visual, psychiatric or cognitive, seizure disorder, permanent or temporary. This service is available for any type of trip, not just for medical appointments. Requirements when using this service include traveling during the service hours in your community and the origin and destination must be within 3/4 of a mile of a bus route. The service region includes Avon, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bristol, Cromwell, East Hartford, Ellington, Farmington, Glastonbury, Hartford, Manchester, Meriden, Middletown, New Britain, Newington, Plainville,  Rocky Hill, South Windsor, Tolland, Vernon/Rockville, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Windsor and Windsor Locks.  Passengers wishing to travel to or from these locations must contact 860-247-5329, to verify the address falls within the service area. Service hours in Plainville are Monday-Friday, 5:45 - midnight; Saturdays 6:15 a.m. - midnight; and Sundays 7:40 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The cost for all trips within and among these towns is $3.50 each way. A 10 ticket book may be purchased at a discount at Stop & Shop.   The driver gets paid when you get on the bus. If you do not have the fare, your requested trip will not be accommodated. Exact change is required, if not using tickets.  

A driver can assist you door-to-door.  There is a wheelchair lift if needed.  Reservations may be made a week before and up until a day ahead of time.  A personal care assistant can accompany you for free if approved.

An application must be completed to determine eligibility for ADA Transportation.  Applications are available at the Plainville Senior Center, for those over the age of 60; or, for persons under age 60, from Pam French at the Plainville Social Services Department.
