Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

If you are a grandparent or relative responsible for raising children, you are not alone. Millions of older adults are raising children for the second time.

A monthly education and support group is held at the Plainville Senior Center and is facilitated by staff of the Plainville Senior Center and Youth Services Department. The program offers grandparents/relatives a way to connect about the issues of raising young children, as well as a way to obtain information and education on relevant topics. In addition, each year the Senior Center hosts a daylong conference called “The Not-So Empty Nest”. The conference features speakers and resources providing services and programs for grandparents and their children.

The Grandparent/Relative Raising Children’s program is open to all individuals who are legally responsible for caring for a child. Confidentiality of all participants is respected. There is no fee to attend.
