Update on Storm Cleanup
Update from 7/7/26 at 12:20 PM
Town crews continue working through storm cleanup this week. Immediately after the storm, our priority was opening roads for emergency access by pushing trees aside. Over the next several days, and likely into next week, crews will be returning to fully remove remaining debris from the roadside.
We’re also assisting Eversource where needed, including recent tree removals on Linden Street and Stillwell Drive to help reopen travel routes. As of 11:47 AM, Eversource reports that 5 customers (0.05%) in Plainville remain without power.
All town roads are open except Whiting Street (where communication utility lines remain on the ground) and Robert St Ext near Cronk Road due to a fallen tree.
With the Petit Road Race coming up on Sunday, crews will shift mid‑week to prepare the race route and ensure it’s clean and safe for participants.
The Transfer Station on Granger Lane will be open this week with extended hours for storm‑related brush and tree branch disposal. Fees for these items are waived, and residents must present proof of residency. Hours are: Tue, July 7 to Fri, July 10 from 12 PM – 6 PM and Sat, July 11 from 8 AM – 3 PM (regular hours).
Thank you for your continued patience as cleanup efforts continue.
Update from 7/6/26 at 2:00 PM
Public Works crews, along with Eversource, are out working hard to clear debris and make our community safe. We appreciate your patience as the Roadways and Buildings & Grounds Departments continue clearing parks, streets, and public spaces throughout Plainville.
Thanks to the hard work of our Public Works crew, the Town is nearly 100% open to the public. Only a few roads remain closed due to storm damage, and both are expected to reopen later this afternoon (Updated: 7/6/26 at 4:15PM).
- Whiting Street
- Ledge Road
- Moschini Way (Norton Park Entrance)
Eversource crews have restored power to the vast majority of residents. As of this update, only 2.95% of Plainville customers remain without electricity, affecting 284 customers.
- See a downed power line?
- Stay away, it may be live. Do NOT touch or approach it. Keep at least 10 feet or more from any downed power line.
- Call the Plainville Fire Department non-emergency line: 860-747-1616
Thank you for your patience and for helping keep our community safe.
