Food Resources/Food Loss During Storm (Post from State Rep. Rebecca Martinez's Facebook Page)
Dear Neighbor,
I know many of you are still dealing with the effects of the storm last weekend, and I want to let you know that the state is here to help.
Below, you can find a list of resources, including mobile food pantries and SNAP benefits, that are available to you in this time of need. Please note that the deadline for SNAP recipients who experienced food loss due to the storm is JULY 14. Don't miss out on this opportunity.
Mobile Pantries
All Mobile Pantries are no questions asked, bi-weekly distributions on the same day/time. Full schedules linked below. Individuals can text FOODSHARE to 85511 to have their closest Mobile text directly to them and to receive scheduling updates.

SNAP
- Lost Food Benefits - Individuals must report losses by 7/14 in order to be reimbursed for the losses. - Connecticut Foodshare SNAP Outreach - Connecticut offers a higher eligibility level for SNAP. If you are unsure about your eligibility please contact the Connecticut Foodshare SNAP Outreach team at 860-856-4357. This team can help to complete the application with you and submit the application on your behalf.
One Time Grocery Gift Cards - Connecticut is providing one-time $300 grocery gift cards to individuals who lost their SNAP benefits due to federal program changes. Access to this program begins in August and is being administered by local Communication Action Agencies. You can find your local community action agency through CAFCA https://www.cafca.org/
