Memory Care Kits

To support our patrons with memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or cognitive impairment and their care partners, the library has created themed Memory Kits. The Memory Kits contain books, music, games, and puzzles to help stimulate conversation, spark memories, and encourage positive experiences. Memory Kits also include informational materials for the care partner. The library invites those living with memory loss and/or their care partner to check out our Memory Kits. According to Alzheimer’s Association, the United States has an estimated 6.7 million Americans 65 years and older living with Alzheimer’s disease. In 2020 Connecticut had an estimated 80,000 Americans with Alzheimer’s. There is a projected increase of 13.8 percent by the year 2025 in Connecticut alone. In 2022 care partners in the United States have provided an estimated 18 billion hours of unpaid care to those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.

Memory Care Kits are checked out for 2 weeks; up to 2 renewals if not on hold.

Available to reserve and be picked up at the Plainville Public Library.
