Borrow Materials

Circulation Policy 
 

Patrons must have a valid Connecticut library card to borrow materials from the Plainville Public Library. Library cards are obtained from your hometown library and may be used at any library within Connecticut.

• Checkout Limits: Patrons may checkout up to five DVDs per library card. The Chromebook Loan Agreement & Hotspot Loan Agreement explain the specifics of checking out each item.
• Fines: Anything checkout out at the Plainville Public Library is fine-free except for returnable museum passes ($5.00/day), Hotspots ($5.00/day), Chromebooks ($10.00/day), Nintendo Switch ($10.00/day), Nintendo Switch games ($1.00/day), and Telescope ($10.00/day). Materials that are never returned, or returned in a damaged condition, will be charged the replacement cost of the item(s). 
• Holds: Patrons can choose to be notified via email, phone call, or text when materials are available for pickup. Holds will be forfeited if items are not picked up within five business days of notification. 
• Loan Periods: 21 days for most materials, except seven days for entertainment DVDs and magazines. Two weeks for loanable technology including Chromebooks, hotspots, telescope, memory kits, Nintendo Switch & Switch games. 
• Renewals: Eligible items are automatically renewed up to two times.
