About Us

The Plainville Police Department was organized in August of 1946. We take pride in offering the very best in police services to all citizens and in helping to promote a safe, vibrant community. Members of the Plainville Police Department subscribe to values that we consider essential to accomplish our mission: integrity, character, professionalism, and compassion.

The police department employs forty full time sworn officers, six civilian dispatchers, one full time animal control officer, two part time animal control officers, two records clerks, and one administrative assistant. In addition we have six part time school crossing guards.

We believe there is a shared responsibility between the police and the citizens of Plainville to continue improving the quality of life. We encourage input from the general public as this improves our services and assists in the prevention of crime and the apprehension of offenders.

We hope this web site will give you a better understanding of our police department and what it has to offer you, including providing specific information that may assist with any questions or concerns you may have.
