Town Attorney Led Training Session for Boards and Commissions on Municipal Government Rules and Procedures
Town Attorney Morris Borea will hold two training sessions on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in the Council Chamber at the Municipal Center. The sessions will take place at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Both sessions will cover the same information, so board and commission members only need to attend one. Each session will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour, depending on questions and feedback, and will cover the following topics:
- Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
- How to be an effective member of a Board or Commission (Procedural By‑laws, Robert’s Rules)
- Code of Ethics
- Q&A (limited to staff and board/commission members)
A handout will be provided, and a PowerPoint presentation may also be used.
These sessions are intended as training and are considered administrative in nature. Because this is not a formal meeting, no agenda or minutes are required under FOIA. Members of the public may attend, however, only staff and members of Boards and Commissions will be permitted to ask questions.
Members of the Town Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Commission, and Ethics Commission are asked to attend.
