Informational Announcement - Northwest Drive Rehabilitation

The Town of Plainville is proposing to rehabilitate the existing bituminous concrete pavement on Northwest Drive from Perron Road to the westerly approach of the Pequabuck River Bridge.  The design for the project is in the final design stage.  Construction funds for this project will be provided by the Connecticut Department of Transportation under the Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program.

It is the Town’s and the State’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community shares its concerns to assist in the project’s development.  Interested parties are encouraged to review the construction drawings posted of the Town’s Website by clicking “Construction Plans”, provide comments and/or pose questions regarding the project.

The Town of Plainville is proposing to mill the existing pavement surface to a depth of two (2) inches on Northwest Drive from westerly approach of Pequabuck River Bridge to Johnson Avenue and install a new pavement surface, install a four (4) inch structural bituminous concrete overlay from Johnson Avenue to Spring Lane and excavate and replace the existing pavement and base from Spring Lane to Perron Road.  Other proposed construction activities include the replacement and repair of existing catch basins and drainage outlets, construction of pedestrian ramps and sidewalk, repair of driveway ramps, installation of new bituminous curbing and the installation of new pavement markings.

An assessment of the construction costs indicates the projects will be approximately $1,000,000.  It is anticipated that the State of Connecticut will provide a grant for 100% of the construction costs through the Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP).  The Town of Plainville anticipates the construction of the project will be initiated April/May of 2018. The construction activities are expected to take sixty (60) calendar days.
