Marriage License Information

How to Apply for a Marriage License:

As of October 1, 2009, marriage licenses may only be obtained from the town of occurrence. Once issued the license is good for 65 days. There is no waiting period between applying and issuing your license.

On November 12, 2008, the Connecticut Supreme Court struck down the state's civil unions and ruled that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry. The same marriage license will be issued to all couples wishing to be married.

Effective July 1, 2018, the fee for the license is $50.00

TIP: You will be asked questions regarding your immediate family. Know where your mother and father were born, and your mother’s maiden name.
