PEAK Fitness Center (People Exercising & Acquiring Knowledge)
One of the goals of the Senior Center is to provide health and wellness programs for its members. One of the most beneficial ways to do that is through our in-house fitness center.
The PEAK Fitness Center is designed to be “senior friendly” and features cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, recumbent bicycles and NuSteps. The NuStep is a seated stair-stepper, which provides a total body workout while limiting any strain on the knees or hips and is ideal for older persons. The PEAK Fitness Center has recently added Cybex Weight Training Equipment.
Members of the PEAK Fitness Center are trained to use the equipment and monitor their own heart rate by a certified exercise physiologist. The exercise physiologist develops a fitness plan for each individual. A doctor’s written approval is required before using the PEAK Fitness Center. Medical approval forms and applications are available at the Senior Center.
Once trained, PEAK Center members are free to use the equipment as often as they wish, whenever they want. No advance sign up is required. The PEAK Center is open Monday-Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Friday:9-1.
