Quinnipiac River Cleanup
Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 9:00 AM to noon. Meeting place to be determined.
Cleanups are the easiest way to introduce people to responsible environmental care taking. You can help by volunteering a few hours of your time to collect trash along the Quinnipiac River.
Earth Day-related activities for local schools will be held in April. Dates to be determined.
Tomasso Nature Park Cleanup Spring Clean-up scheduled for Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 10:00 AM to Noon.
The Conservation Commission, which has been doing periodic cleanups and maintenance work at Tomasso Nature Park, is looking for volunteers to help cut back invasive plants, such as bittersweet that grow and block the park's access trails.
Tomasso Nature Park, Granger Lane, is open from March 15th thru November 15th, dawn to dusk. The park offers easy pathways of packed earth with views of two ponds and the natural marsh. There are also various water birds to watch along with muskrat and the occasional deer. The nature park is one of Plainville's best-kept secrets, an environmental gem that is home to many native plant and animal species.

Pequabuck River Cleanup
Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9:00 AM to noon at the river near West Cemetery, Route 177. Cleanups are the easiest way to introduce people to responsible environmental care taking. You can help by volunteering a few hours of your time to collect trash along the Pequabuck River.
Fishing Derby
Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 7:30 to 10:00 AM, at Paderewski Park. Open to Plainville residents ages 5 to 15. This is free for Plainville youngsters, who must be accompanied by an adult. Sign-ups will be held prior to the event, dates to be determined.
The Plainville Conservation Commission exposes youngsters to the sport of fishing through a fun-filled day of fishing and the great outdoors. Prizes are awarded in many categories.
