REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX are due and payable in two installments, July and January. The original bill is mailed by the end of June of each year. This bill will consist of 3 parts: July installment due by August 1; January installment due by February 1; and customer copy. NO JANUARY bill will be mailed to the homeowner.
If a homeowner receives a bill and the bank is responsible for paying the tax, PLEASE forward the bill directly to the bank. If a homeowner is responsible for paying the bill and does not receive a bill, CONTACT the Revenue Collection Department for a bill.
MOTOR VEHICLE TAX
A resident living in Plainville on October 1, is subject to a motor vehicle tax the following July. Taxes are due and payable in one installment by August 1. All persons who newly register a motor vehicle between October 2 and July 31 are subject to pay a Supplemental Tax Bill. These bills will be mailed at the end of December and are due and payable by February 1.
Payments made or postmarked after the due dates will invoke an interest penalty of 1% per month from the ORIGINAL DUE DATE of July 1 or January 1 or a minimum or $2.00, whichever is greater.
If there are delinquent motor vehicle taxes due and a clearance slip is needed, all taxes will have to be paid in cash, money order or certified check. No personal, business or client fund checks will be accepted.
SEWER USAGE BILLS
Every homeowner that resides in Plainville and is connected to the sewer system receives a Sewer Usage Bill. Bills are calculated on winter quarter water consumption. The bills are mailed at the end of October and are due and payble in two installments. The First installment is due November 1, with no interest charged if paid by December 1. The second installment is due by May 1, with no interest charged if paid by June 1. NO SECOND BILL IS MAILED. The customer will be mailed the entire bill in November. If a homeowner is connected to the sewer system and does not receive a bill, please contact the Revenue Collection Office.
All bills are to be paid in person or by mail at the Revenue Collection Office, One Central Square, Room 200. Payments may also be dropped in the Payment Drop Box, located in the rear of the building. When paying in person and a receipt is required, bring your customer copy in for validation.
FAILURE TO RECEIVE A BILL WILL NOT INVALIDATE THE TAX OR ANY PENALTY INCURRED. |
