| The Finance Department consists of the Director of Finance, the Assessor and the Tax Collector. The Director of Finance deals with accounts payable, payroll and accounting. The office is located in room 307 of the of the Town Municipal Center. The Assessor's Office, room 206, is responsible for maintaining a list of all property, both real and personal, in the Town of Plainville. Finally, the Tax Department, in room 200, collects all revenues for the Town. |

Payroll: Process employee payroll and related employee benefits for 120 full time and approximately 256 part time and seasonal employees.
Accounts Payable: Process weekly payments to vendors for services to the Town. These payments include: utility, fuel, snow removal contractors, solid waste removal, etc.
Accounting: Maintain the financial integrity of the various Town accounts, including those of the General Fund.
In addition, Finance maintains a fixed asset inventory, monitors insurance certificates, provides budget development support, (including the Capital Improvements Plan), invests idle funds, obtains capital financing and provides staff support for the Insurance Commission whose responsibility is to provide and procure on behalf of the Town of Plainville, property, liability and casualty insurance.
The Town's financial records are audited by an independent auditor each year and are part of a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report available in the Town Clerk's Office and the Plainville Public Library. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Town of Plainville for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. This was the fifteenth consecutive year that the Town has received this prestigious award.
